Used Redback Networks
Redback Networks was a telecommunications
equipment company that specialized in hardware and
software used by ISPs to manage broadband services.
Redback shared in global leadership in IP edge technology,
critical in IP networks and expanded Ericsson's
IP market presence and growth opportunities.
We
Sell Used Redback Networks
In January 2007, Redback was acquired by
Ericsson. This sets up Ericsson to compete with
Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco Systems, and Juniper Networks. All of
these companies have edge routers or Layer 3 edge switches
that implement MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), which
is key for the emerging approach of multiservice edge
routing over a single IP infrastructure.

Redback Equipment Overview
Used Redback SE Family
The SmartEdge Multi Service Edge
Router (MSER) integrates edge routing, Ethernet
aggregation and subscriber management into one platform.
Part # SE 100
The SmartEdge 100 integrates high-performance edge routing
and advanced subscriber management capabilities into a
compact and flexible multi-service edge router. It is
suitable for deployment in smaller network environments with
fewer subscribers or ports.
Part # SE 400
The SmartEdge 400 MSER delivers the comprehensive and proven
IP-routing foundation required for world-class, multi-play
broadband network deployments.
Part # SE 600
The SmartEdge 600 MSER consolidates and simplifies the
network edge, allowing operators to accommodate more
bandwidth, traffic and subscribers.
Part # SE 800
The SmartEdge 800 MSER enables service providers to build
highly versatile smart broadband networks for delivering
multi-play broadband service and achieving profitable
business growth.
Part # SE 1200
The SmartEdge 1200 MSER is a highly scalable platform
specifically designed to address the requirements of large
networks that support large volumes of traffic. For maximum
throughput, it supports 20G card slots. For additional
traffic processing, it can also support 40G card slots (2:1
oversubscribed). In addition, it can support up to 256,000
PPP or DHCP subscribers in one chassis in 1/3 of a 7 ft.
rack.
Used Redback SM Family
As the first focal point of fixed and
mobile networks, metro platforms must deliver unparalleled
transport scalability in the form of E-LINE and E-LAN
services. The SMS (Subscribers Management System)
platform for provisioning, aggregating and managing
broadband subscribers and services through a single, unified
platform (BRAS).
SM240
Purpose-built for co-location sites and space constraint
applications, the SM 240 delivers industry-leading service
scalability in a compact form, which leads to low recurring
lease costs.
SM480
Leveraging the network economics of Carrier Ethernet, the SM
480 enables operators to offer revenue-generating services
using their technology of choice for connectivity in a
packet-based network.
Used Redback SMS 1000 / 1800 Series
Redback?s SMS 1800 give service
providers the ability to aggregate and manage thousands of
broadband subscribers. Deployed at service providers' points
of presence (POPs), the SMS 1800 series provides: broadband
subscriber traffic from layer-1 and layer-2
network-access-equipment such as DSL access multiplexers
(DSLAMs), cable modem termination systems (CMTS), and
wireless access-points, and delivers IP subscriber traffic
to providers' backbone routers. The only current model is
the SMS 1800 (does not support IPv6).

Ericsson Smart Ethernet Aggregation
(SEA)
The SEA family of multi-access
aggregation platforms provides a seamless migration path
from TDM circuit to the next-generation packet-switched
networks: SEA 10 and SEA 20.
Both the SEA 10 and SEA 20 support the
largest switching capacities in its class. The SEA 10
supports a switching capacity of 36 Gbps and the SEA 20
supports a massive 120 Gbps. SEA provides traditional
SONET/SDH backhaul services with the G.8032 and 10-GigE
ports. G.8032 adds 50-ms ring protection and restoration to
simple E-LINE and E-LAN services. They deliver
high-bandwidth 10-GigE and G.8032 for reliable backhaul of
voice and other mission-critical data services.
